I HAD SUCH A PRETTY DREAM MAMA
I had such a pretty dream mama,
Not like those of long, long ago.
I would wake up and cry,
So frightened you’d die,
And be left with no mother to know.
In this dream it was different dear mama,
For now you so wanted to die,
As you witnessed my tears
Your eyes filled with fear,
You could not bear to watch your child cry.
Your need to still comfort your children
Was stronger than the cords of death,
Your spirit lingered on,
Although you were gone,
To console with your very last breath.
I whispered, “Its okay now dear Mama,”
Dad waits in the heaven above.”
And the message was clear
I could not help but hear;
“You know God through a true mothers love.”
I’ve hurt you at times my dear Mama,
And maybe have even let you down,
But one thing I know
No malice you’d show
Because you wear a true mothers crown.
Like God, you have always forgiven me,
Not that I deserved it at all.
He created in you
A heart ever true,
Like the Savior, you answered his call.
You’ve gone now to heaven dear mama,
This much I assuredly know,
Reunited above
With your own mothers love,
Makes it easier to now let you go.
God manifests his love to us daily.
It flows down from his mansion above.
He first gave us his Son,
The anointed One,
Then he gave us a mother to love.
